What To Expect

Sahadewa Barong Dance & Fire Dance
One of the most popular dances from Bali is Barong and Keris Dance. It is a kind of trance dance which means it must be performed by professional dancers only. Uniquely, Barong and Keris Dance is only shown in the morning. It is different from other traditional trance dance that is conducted at night anyway. Tourists and visitors are interested and curious about the dance, not only because of the trance thing but also for the story. The story is actually quite mainstream, about the good versus evil. But since it is performed artistically, it can touch the audience more simply. In the story, the good figure is represented by Barong and the evil figure is namely Rangda. Other characters appearing in the dance are a monkey, Rangda’s bodyguards, Goddess Kunti, and God Shiva. As information, not all stages in Bali present the dance.
