It was great!
Our guide Adi was super nice, he made that experience even better, he knew all the tricks for perfect experiences and photos! Then the relax time In the hot springs and the coffee plantation really made a perfect day.
I will definitely recommend to anyone coming to Bali!

Tough but amazing experience

This tour was amazing. Both our driver for the day and our hiking guide were fantastic. Our hiking guide was really great about anticipating breaks that we would need and helping us with making it up the mountain. While it was a lot of effort to get up there, the views from the top and the sunrise were amazing. Our hiking guide was also really knowledgeable about the history of the area, so we learned a lot about not only the volcano but also Bali in general. Our hiking guide also took some amazing photos for our group. We added on going to the hot springs and coffee plantation after the hike and I highly recommend it. Soaking in the hot springs after the long hike felt great on our tired muscles. The coffee plantation was beautiful and so much fun! This day was one of the most amazing days of our trip!

I cannot recommend this highly enough!

The organisation of this tour was brilliant - we received a reminder email the day before the hike; our driver was waiting for us before the agreed time at our hotel reception (2.30am in Ubud) and was waiting for us on time after the hike and the hot springs. He was really friendly and answered any questions we had.

Our guide for the hike (Gede Antara) was great - he went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. It was just myself and my partner in his group (which we didn’t expect but was a nice bonus!), and he really looked after us. Although I didn’t ask for assistance, at tougher points he literally held my arm and helped me up or down and I got the impression that if anyone was struggling he would do anything he could do get them up and down safely. At the top, he made sure we got ahead of the crowds so we got photos before it was busy, and pointed out all the best spots to take photos (and even took some great ones himself for us).

The hike itself was definitely tough at points - my partner and I are fairly fit and we definitely got out of breath and sweaty - but I think it would be manageable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. And of course it was well worth it when you reached the top - one of the best experiences I have ever had! Our guide gave us torches and offered us a walking pole - I wasn’t sure whether to take this as most other people at the start point didn’t seem to have them, but was glad I did as it was very useful. My partner didn’t and said later he wished he had (though he managed ok without it). Footwear wise - people did do it in trainers but I had hiking boots and would recommend them, the path is slippy due to loose gravel and very dusty so would recommend them for the grip and also to avoid your trainers getting very dirty!

The breakfast given to us at the top was much bigger than I expected - coffee/tea/hot chocolate, a selection of fruit and biscuits, boiled eggs and egg and banana sandwiches. Even a packet of tissues - I’m not sure if this is as standard or because Gede had noticed I had the sniffles on the way up!

The hot springs was also a perfect way to finish off the morning - relaxing at a beautiful location. Yes it is in a resort rather than a very rustic place - but it means that again, everything is well organised and set up for big groups of people and so added to, not took away from the enjoyment in my opinion.

Don’t leave Bali without doing this

Thoroughly enjoyed the once in a lifetime experience of the sunrise trekking, our morning was certainly made when the guides brought out their guitars as the sun came up! Guide was extremely friendly and funny, couldn’t have asked for a better one - continually made sure we were okay.
However, our one issue with the morning was our driver/ company rep was not very welcoming, and due to him not mentioning and the car not having company logo on It made for an unnerving start. His attitude did not improve on the drive home either.
Linking to the hot spring was a fantastic idea and a great way to wind down.

Mt.Batur Sunrise Trek & Hot Spring

This whole tour was fantastic! Our camping was so great & comfortable. The dinner cooked over the fire was delicious too!! The Trek was harder than I expected but our guide Wayan was amazing and helped me up the whole way! The sunrise was totally worth it & the hot springs afterwards were the perfect reward. Having delicious coffee in the plantation afterwards really woke us up☺Thanks to our great driver too, who got us there and back again! Thank you☺
